If you brought enough ice abilities, the Bomb’ll go down quick. Otherwise just ignore the Bomb and let it self-destruct since there aren’t any medals for killing it fast. Make sure you shield the party with Sentinel’s Grimoire if you choose to go for this approach.

Dr. Mog’s Advice: When Black Waltz 2’s HP gets low, it will counter certain elemental magic attacks by casting a spell of the same element that hits the entire party, kupo! Switch to physical attacks once you get its HP low enough!


If you see his ability pool, most of his attacks are magical damage and therefore Carbuncle is a good option. Couple that with Mental Breakdown and you should be good.

Otherwise, other options include Slow and Magic Break(down)

Strategy
Here is an important piece of info you need to know about the fight: Zorn & Thorn will grant each other a powerful ability each and will use it the following turn if uninterrupted. If they take damage after being “charged”, the action for their respective powerful ability will be cancelled.


There is also one more important thing you need to note: The battle ends when you defeat ANY ONE of the jesters, so just focus your abilities on one of them!

So for this fight, all you have to do is to deal damage to them ASAP once they are charged so they will never get to use those powerful abilities. You can do this efficiently by using the Zealot RM, or AoE abilities like Bladeblitz, Quake, summons, etc.

Climhazzard can happen in two ways: (i) Randomly (?) after a set number of turns (15?); or (ii) Right before Beatrix dies (this one is scripted and will not deal damage)


Tank up your party with Protectga and/or Sentinel’s Grimoire. Alternatively, the better option would be to use Lunatic High, since Haste will put you at a huge advantage against Beatrix, especially if she’s Slowed as well.

Consider Armor/Mental Breakdowns to boost your dps. If you foresee yourself not having enough damage to beat her, expect to be hit by Climhazzard at least once. You want to heal your party ASAP before Beatrix gets another turn. Bringing an AoE heals RW is recommended in such a case.

    1. I was able to land silence but never poison, so unless RNG is being RNG after 20 consecutive S/L, then do not being poison to fight hill gigas

  1. This event is great because of the bosses. Battle 09 can be cheesed easily with Break or Death and Manaspring II. Carbuncle makes the caster bosses easy, and the summon and holy orbs in this event are a good chuck of that summon’s requirements. I cleared Elite up to Eiko’s crystal, then hopped up to 09 for the 3 bosses, beat them with Death, and then used the 4* holy orbs for Carbuncle. Now I’m going to go after Black Waltz 3 in safety, so I can give more EXP to Steiner and Eiko.

  2. Hillgigas can still cast quake even if silenced, it only prevents him from casting curaga which was only once in the whole fight lol

    1. I crafted a R3 silencega because I didn’t know this. His curaja hits for like 2k; frankly it gives you a free turn, and silence is a hilariously bad waste.

      I could’ve brought kirin; quake hits for exactly/just over 50%, so kirin’s enough to eat a second quake and then properly eat curagas, instead of wasting them on people at half.
