Event Rules 

This event is a little different from what we are used to seeing.

The event will be split into two categories: Knight’s Path and Mage’s Path

With every dungeon cleared (of each class), new ones of higher difficulty will be unlocked (of the respective class).

Event Mechanics

There is something unique to note with regards to the Soldier class and the Magician class:

  • Enemies in the Knight’s Path are weak in physical attacks but strong in magic attacks. They also have high RES and low DEF
  • Conversely, enemies in the Mage’s Path are weak in magic attacks but strong in physical attacks. They also have high DEF and low RES.

When a Soul Fire possesses a target, it “leaves” the battle (hence untargettable) and will cast Fira on the possessed target every turn. This battle can be trivialised with Reflect/Carbuncle. Don’t worry about Fira bouncing back to a Soul Fire (and healing it), the more important thing is you avoid the damage. (Fira actually hits for >1000). Don’t forget to exploit weakness for medals.

* About Twin Dragon Fang: It is triggered immediately when a head dies. That means if you somehow defeat both heads simultaneously, you will be hit by Twin Dragon Fang twice in succession. Keep this in mind!


The real challenge here is getting Mastery, because you can only lose a maximum of two medals.

Shield the party against magic with Shellga and/or Sentinel’s Grimoire. As long as you take minimal damage, this fight shouldn’t be a problem. Magic Breakdown is your best friend here.

Make sure your party is shielded at all times, especially right before one head dies.

A no-healer party is recommended here. If you need some form of recovery, use Kirin.

*About Water CellIf someone gets trapped in a Water Cell, your other party members will have to use magic attacks to break them out! Trapped characters take damage, so target them to get them out fast!


Berserk will cause it to only use Tail Attack. If you are going for this approach, make sure you shield the party with Protectga and/or Power Break.

Because we don’t have many wind-type abilities at the moment, the only way you’re going to deal high damage is Mental Break + ga/ja spells. Otherwise, Wind Slash is also viable. Note that Wind Slash is a ranged attack, so a melee character like Cloud still has value in the party.

Sleep + Poison works well too. Follow it with spells to take it down fast.

NOTE: Bottomswell does Big Wave as a final attack before it dies. Make sure your party is topped up at all times!

In this EX dungeon, three out of four bosses are airborne type, therefore character choices become very limited when planning your party. Abilities like Power/Mental Break(down) are also important here. Consider characters like Wakka and/or Tyro for your ranged supports, and fill the rest of the party with a healer and black mages. WIth well-honed spells, this EX should be considerably easier than the one in Soldier class.

As mentioned earlier, Wind Slash is a ranged attack, so Cloud still has a spot in the party.

Jamar Armor often uses Materia Jammer, granting characters with Reflect. I don’t really understand the purpose of that mechanic, but you can just ignore it. After Jamar Armor is defeated, Jammer Release is activated, removing all Reflect status from characters. Destroy Jamar Armor so that Proud Clod’s weakness to lightning is exposed.

You want to Blind Proud Clod ASAP. Doing so will cut down incoming damage by a considerable amount, though you will still take damage from Beam Cannon.

  2. Hi, you show Tifa’s memory crystal as a reward in 2 different levels. One in the 11 level of magician class and the second in the 12 level of magician class. From the muketsu image it should just show up in the 11 level against motor ball.

    1. It only works if you have a ranged weapon on.

  4. unless wind slash is a different ability, aero strike with clould does not it the aerial bosses. not a ranged attack

  6. Hi, you should alsp mark heli gunner as null for earth element as well. Just so no one gets confused. I know its a flying thing but just to make it clear.
