Commentary
  • Ifrit / Shiva take one action before trading places with each other.
  • Ifrit & Shiva do not share health pools.
  • You only need to defeat one of them to end the battle.

Time your attacks carefully. Only using Ice attacks is recommended as you want to save as much fire attacks for the next boss (unless of course you have multiple honed copies of fire abilities).

Strategy
  • When Maduin is in Magic Forbidden state, magic abilities cannot be used. This is indicated by the barrier that divides the party and Maduin. When this barrier disappears, magic abilities can be used.
  • Maduin will switch between the two states depending on his current HP.
  • 【Ultimate】Dispel removes ALL positive buffs, including SG/SS2. It is only used once throughout the whole fight and that happens when he is in his Weak state. Plan your defensive RW usage carefully.
  • Holy Regen heals for 7662 per tick, Dispel is pretty much mandatory unless you can outdamage it.
  • If you have access to High Regen SBs, that’s a bonus.

Threshold estimates for phases:
(these estimates are based on personal calculation from watching a couple of videos)

100%: Magic Forbidden
90%: Magic Unleashed (Normal)
70%: Magic Forbidden
60%: Magic Unleashed (Weak), 【M】Dispel happens during this phase
Below 60% onwards, Maduin no longer enters Magic Forbidden phase.
There seems to be a scripted Chaos Wave that happens at ~50% HP.
