Strategy
Couple of things to note:
・ When Anima’s HP drops below a certain amount, it uses Magical Projection, causing the Right and Left Manipulators to use Resonant Magic (Non-elemental damage to all targets.)
・ If both Manipulators are destroyed, Anima uses Initiating Regeneration to revive them.This fight is just like the one in Vanille’s event, that is Anima has a 100% chance of countering all abilities with Attack. 


One common strategy involves the use of Retaliate:

1. Kill one of the arms, ignore the other
2. Power Break/ Armor Break the main body
3. Commence Retaliate meta
4. Once Anima is in his 2nd phase (<50% HP), Magic Break(down) the other arm that you ignored and switch back to the main body until it’s dead.

This method lets you take the least damage possible and ensures a clean kill.

This thing was easy the first time round, we won’t be let off so easily this time. Note that Wave Cannon cannot be mitigated, so you’ll have to heal up every time you get hit by it. Otherwise, beat it down with lightning abilities. Use Armor/Mental Break to boost DPS. Also expect it to hit hard with Attack and Plasma Beam, so control incoming damage with Power/Magic Break. 

Recommended abilities: Curaga/ja, Power/Magic/Armor/Mental Break(down), Protectga
Recommended RW: Angel Wing Bolt.

You have to beat this thing twice, and Garuda Interceptor enters its charged state after reaching a certain amount of HP. Electrified Breath and Hellstorm Bolt seems to be classified as physical attacks. Use Power Break + Protectga to reduce their damage to a comfortable level.

・ In its Normal form, Dreadnought periodically checks itself for debuffs. If it has any debuffs, it enters Steam Clean form.
・ In its Steam Clean form, Dreadnought uses Steam Clean to remove any debuffs.
・ Dreadnought returns to its Normal form after a certain number of turns.


Note that Dreadnought cannot use Steam Clean when it is Paralyzed. Intimidate your way to victory. Though, take note that you will have to beat Dreadnought a second time right after the first encounter. So ration your abilities.

NOTE: This is the another boss with “Break” resistance. Referring to the table above, “RESIST” means that the effect still persists, but its efficacy is reduced.

Basically a super tanky Odin, this will be fun 🙂 

Maintain high defenses with Protectga + Power Break and/or Shellga + Magic Break. Boost the party’s DPS with Armor + Mental Break(down). If you brought enough ice abilities, he shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Reduce battle speed to improve your performance.


Brynhildr’s physical abiilites has some interesting and amazing synergy with Tauntaliate. Consider this strategy if you don’t have well-honed abilities.Watch the videos below for the various strategies.

  1. for Brynhildr, you say if you brought enough ice abilities. does that mean he’s actually weak to ice?

    1. Yes that’s right, I must have left that part out in the elements section. Will edit!

  2. I’m confused about that break resistance on Odin and Brynhildr since the recomended strategy is to use breakdowns… does that mean they’re inmune to the 3 star breaks, but not to the 4 star breakdowns?

    1. They both hit, but with reduced effect. So let’s say Magic Breakdown reduces MAG damage by 40%, with Break Resistance it will be 20% (halved). Same with Break.

  3. Can you explain the Tauntilate strategy? It has to do with Berserk, right? Other than that, I don’t know what it’s about.

    1. Tauntaliate basically involves two things: First is Retaliate, and second is Sentinel which is Pala.Cecil’s first unique Soul Break. Sentinel’s effect is “Temporarily attract single-target physical attacks.” In other words, taunt.

      So, say you have Cloud using Retaliate and then have him use Sentinel, this makes the boss attack Cloud only and Cloud will be countering everything.

      This strategy works especially well on Brynhildr because she has attacks that hit multiple times. So Cloud will counter every single hit of her attacks.

  8. Dreadnought from area 9 part 3 drops a greater dark orb

  9. Dreadnought in part 4 of 09: Vile Peaks Escape also uses incarnerate, so something that reduces magic damage is advised. He also drops summon orb.
