Always remember: Top crane = Lightning, Botton Crane = Water

Note: Only cast above weakness spell twice on the crane. The 3rd time you cast, the crane will counter with a very painful AOE attack.
Best way to do it is to quickly cast the weakness element first on your first turn before the crane’s cast Magitek Barrier which will reflect your spells. Use melee or retaliate after that.

It’ll be difficult to 1 hit thrash mobs from M10 onwards. You might want to Hone your retaliate and Double-Cut skills so that it’s easier to get your Master clear.

Considering that one of the special score requirement is to not exploit the boss weakness to Ice attack, the best way to do this is to get a perfect score for the first 2 stages, make sure nobody dies on the last boss, exploit boss and add’s weakness to Ice attack and quickly take them down without taking too much damage. Remember to keep 1 add alive before moving on to the boss, so that the rest will not respawn.

Another way to do this will probably be the retaliate-meta.

HP of Ultima Weapon is quite high and it is difficult to Master clear this without Locke as you might use up too many turns or take in too much damage. Although one of the special requirement is to not use Locke, it’ll be safer to lose those 3 points and secure the other points.

Two status ailment that’ll help are, Paralyze (Intimidate) and Stop. If you manage to cast stop, the fight becomes simple.

Remember to hone those abilities.

The boss will start the battle with instant death ability, S/L if you need to.
Cure spell doesn’t work as it’s not an undead. Use Dia.
Use High Multiplier attacks to quickly take down the boss at it will still cast instant death abilities throughout the fight.

Plan your team properly, if you’re bringing your physical team, go all out on those elemental Strike together with Boost and Defense Break. 

If you’re bringing your Magic team, bring along all your powerful spells with High Mental Break.

Celes is a good addition to this fight as her Soul Break will add resistance for the team.

– Similar to T-Rex, try to Poison Red Dragon with Venom Buster.
– Use Slowga on boss so that you’ll have the time to cast Reflect on your party to reflect high damage AOE spells back to the boss. (Make sure the character with Reflect has Haste on)
– Top Priority abilities: High Magic Break, High Mental break, Venom Buster, Dark Buster/Power Break,  Water related abilities (you do not want to use Ice due to the special score requirement)

  2. Any notable spells needed or all elements?

    1. Id say fire since there’s a few bosses nesr the end that are weak to it and its also helpful for vargas fight. Then id say lightning and bio with ice but not really since theres a clear target to not use ice

      1. Used Intimidate against Ultima earlier, casted 4 and 3 managed to paralyze it. Once paralyzed, used boost and retaliate method and once the paralyze wears out, intimidate again
